I reworked this one a while back, but never posted it. I felt it lacked an environment before and I hope this is better :) Critique is welcome

I just love this piece. It's just a complete, perfectly executed character illustration. I think I commented on WiPNation but I wanted to comment here too!

The color reworking is quite a nice addition to this drawing. Everything seems a lot more vibrant than before. The background is cool too. It adds more depth and dimension which I think it needed. The earbuds where a nice added detail also. I think details like that really separate the amateurs and skilled artists. The only critique I have is I like how in your other drawings you make the background more washed out. The branches in the distance would add more depth if the color and hue where more drastic. This is a very picky criticism though. It looks great even without that alteration.

Thanks for taking the time to write a critique! I'm not sure what you mean by "the branches in the distance would add more depth if the color and hue were more drastic". Do you mean they should be different color?

In art class it was revered to as values. Basically the closer an item is the more details you will see. so a branch that is just behind the focal point of the picture (the bad ass guy in your pic) will have a lot more visible details (i.e. Bark, missing bark, moss growing on the tree etc.) but a branch further back (like the back part of the tree) may just be a silhouette. Other things may also play into backgrounds like weather (fog, rain), or even the time of day, and light sources beyond the view of the picture. This might be over thinking it all. But if your going for hyper realistic drawings, sometimes its good to think about the objects outside the view of the in the picture, but how they will affect what you are drawing.
As far as my previous comment, the coloring of the branches will be affected by distance. I don't mean to alter the color in a way that is unnatural. Just that another way to show distance to tint each layer with a darker tone. Hopefully this is all useful to you.
